Johor Is Getting More Theme Parks In The Next Few Years

Did you know that the state of Johor has the most theme parks in Malaysia?

There are currently 10 indoor and outdoor theme parks down south!

Some of the most popular ones include Legoland Malaysia, Sanrio Hello Kitty Town, Angry Birds Activity Park, Wet World Batu Pahat and more.

But the state is not planning to stop at this number because they are already planning more amusement parks to be opened in the coming years, as reported by The Star.

State Tourism, Trade and Consumerism Committee chairman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong said Johor now stands as one of the leading players in the region due to the state’s strategic location and multiple entertainment offerings that are perfect for families, children and young adults.

He hinted that the next theme park will be located in Iskandar Puteri, Iskandar Malaysia and more than RM100 million has been pumped into this project.

Another indoor theme park project we can also expect is at Capital21 shopping mall, slated to open this August.

The theme park spanning 525,000 sq ft will occupy three floors of the shopping mall and focus on three main things – movie, cartoon and music.

This indoor theme park will reportedly be the largest in Southeast Asia and the fifth largest in the world, equipped with an indoor circus that can seat a thousand people!

So with more outdoor and indoor theme parks in the lineup, Johor is all set to attract more domestic and foreign visitors.

In 2016, Johor was reportedly the top destination for domestic visitors, recording a total of 7.4 million Malaysian tourists that year.

The state also attracted the third most international tourists in the country in the same year, recording about 2.6 million foreigners.
