Johor Teen Allegedly Caught Creating & Selling Explicit AI Pics of Schoolmates on Telegram
While it is undeniable that artificial intelligence (AI) is proving to be a very useful tool, it can also bite us back when it falls into the wrong hands.
One teenager in Johor recently found himself in deep trouble after he was arrested following accusations that he had been selling pornographic materials generated by AI out of his schoolmates’ photos.

To make things worse, the 16-year-old is also believed to have been selling the deepfake photos on social media for RM2 each.
In a statement made by the school, they have received complaints regarding the matter and are now cooperating with the police after the victims had filed police reports against the suspect.

Johor police chief M. Kumar said the police have received eight reports against the suspect, and he had been arrested on April 8, as reported by The Straits Times.
Police had also seized a phone that is believed to have been used to edit and upload the lewd photos of his victims.
“Early investigation found that the suspect had used AI to edit photos of his victim, which he obtained through social media,” he said.
The suspect is currently being remanded for four days from April 9 to assist in the investigations. The case is currently being investigated under Section 292 of the Penal Code for the sale, distribution or circulation of obscene material and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for sharing offensive and inappropriate content.
Police are also urging other victims to come forward and lodge a report at their nearest police station.
