This Kedah School Has The Best Marching Band In The World

This marching band from a school in Kedah marched into the hearts of the jury and totally won them over.

Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan (SMJK) Keat Hwa from Alor Setar has emerged as world champions after being awarded the Sudler Shield Award on Monday.

The award was bestowed upon the band after winning several categories they contested in, as well as emerging as overall champion at the 2016 World Championship of Marching Show Band (WCMSB) competition.

SMJK Keat Hwa beat out bands from eight different countries at the WCMSB, which was held at the Kuala Lumpur Hockey Stadium from 3 August to 6 August, to claim the title.

The Sudler Shield Award was presented by Professor W. Dale Warren, chairman of the John Philip Souza Foundation Sudler Shield Jury, to SMJK Keat Hwa principal, Yeoh Chui Seang, at the school's hall on Monday.

The coach of the marching band, Tang Chia Hoe, told Bernama that the band's performance was inspired by a Bruce Lee film.
