Kelantan Pair Praised for Offering to Clean Gadgets of Flood Victims for Free
Two friends in Kelantan were praised by many after a video they posted on TikTok offering to clean flood victims’ electronic gadgets for free has gone viral.
Khadijah Mod Suhaimi, 32, owner of Mumtaz Network, and her friend Siti Ismatu Saadiah Rusly, 32, came up with the idea after they saw that many flood victims suffered losses when their household items were submerged in the water.
As of this article, the video shared on Mumtaz Network's TikTok has garnered over 60,000 views and almost 500 shares.
Image Credit: Harian MetroThrough the same video, the duo advised people not to turn on the devices that had been submerged in floodwaters before they undergo chemical cleaning to avoid worsening the damage.
Siti Ismatu, who has been involved in the computer service business for the past 10 years, said chemical cleaning is among the lifelines that can be used for flood victims' computers or laptops.
Most of those who sent their devices were flood victims from Tumpat, Pasir Puteh and Pasir Mas.
Image Credit: Malay MailKhadijah, a graduate of Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), said it took her less than three hours to repair electronic devices which were sent. With the help of Siti Ismatu, the duo can repair five to six laptops daily, depending on the level of damage.
“Usually such service would cost around RM150 to RM300 for each electronic device. However, I believe that my small deed in providing these services for free can ease the burden of flood victims,” said Khadijah.
Taking into account the situation of some flood victims who are still stranded, the duo said that the free cleaning service they offered does not have a time limit.
Many users on TikTok have swarmed the business's TikTok and praised the duo for their good deed.
