Who can forget the unique Keluarga Malaysia logo? Combined photos of everyday Malaysians that formed a one-of-a-kind logo. Conceptually, the logo sounded great - not the end product, unfortunately. At some point, the branding was everywhere; online, on billboards and on the news (for questionable reasons, too).

Today, it is reported that branding for Keluarga Malaysia campaign cost us a staggering RM62.1 million during the previous Prime Minister, Ismail Sabri’s tenure.

As a comparison, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s Malaysia Madani slogan only cost RM489,216 as of January 30, 2023 whereas Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s Kerajaan Prihatin cost around RM181,752 during his time as the Malaysian Prime Minister.

The combined expenditure for all three campaigns is RM62,764,107.

The reports were confirmed by the Minister of the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Armizan Ali, who revealed the information yesterday.

According to Focus Malaysia, Datuk Armizan said that the total expenses are based on roadshows and tour programmes from the start of the branding campaign until its conclusion.

“The Kerajaan Prihatin slogan was the only branding rolled out during the eighth PM’s tenure which coincided with the period when the country was under the movement control order (MCO).”

However, it’s too early to tell if PM10’s Malaysia Madani branding campaign will be capped at that number.
