The Health Ministry has said that the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases is a global phenomenon and not just limited to Malaysia.

The ministry said that neighbouring countries such as Indonesia and Thailand were also facing the same problem, Malaysiakini reported.

New cases everywhere

The numbers are not good
According to the report, Indonesia reported an average of 5,453 new cases over the past 14 days while Thailand reported 1,547 over the past 24 hours.

"Thailand has been reporting more than 1,500 new cases for three days straight, up from a daily average of 100 new cases in early April.

"Increasing number of cases can also be seen in Malaysia, which now has a cumulative 379,473 Covid-19 cases, after an increase of 2,341 cases today," the Health Ministry reportedly said.

The report didn't include details on how the ministry is hoping to handle the increase.

Considering that besides state border crossing and parliament, everything else is open and functioning as usual, we sure hope those in charge of handling COVID-19 situation have a solid plan that they are just not communicating to the public.
