KLIA Will No Longer Make Boarding Call Announcements At Its Terminals
Silence is golden.
If you're one of those people who are always running late at the airport (why though?) and rely on public boarding announcements to get you to the correct gate in time, you're in for a bad time.The Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has announced on its Facebook page that it is now a 'silent' airport.
What that means is, they will stop making boarding call announcements and public paging for passengers at its terminals.
The new directive came into effect on 1 December.
So, from now onwards, passengers are advised to refer to the Flight Information Display Screens (FIDS) or speak to its officers at the terminal if they have questions.
Or you know, you could reach KLIA earlier and wait at the boarding gate 30 minutes before the boarding time.
It saves a lot of people a lot of time.
First adopted by several European airports, the 'silent airport' movement has since grew to include several international airports around the world.The aim of this movement is to reduce noise pollution in airports by cutting down on cutting out unnecessary boarding call announcements and the paging of passengers.
Airport-wide announcements will only be made in the event of an emergency or last minute flight disruptions.
Besides KLIA and klia2, other airports around the world who have adopted the 'silent airport' treatment include Barcelona's El Prat Airport, India's Chennai Airport, Finland's Helsinki Airport, London's City Airport and South Africa's Cape Town International Airport.
