Fans of Malaysian cartoonist Datuk Mohammad Nor Mohammad Khalid, better known as Lat, here’s some happy news for you!

The 70-year-old is set to publish a second Mat Som book after over 30 years!

Yes, the first Mat Som book was published in 1989 and adapted into a film a year later.

A much awaited sequel

According to a report by Malay Mail, Lat aims to publish the second book in July to coincide with the opening of the ‘Rumah Lat Dan Galeri’ in Batu Gajah.

“I am in the process of drawing the 150-page book. It will be in Bahasa Melayu,” he said.

Lat also admitted that he was not particularly proud of the time it took to complete the book.

“Looking back at when I first started drawing it, I am ashamed of myself,” he chuckled.

“But when I am at home, the lazybones will act up and I will forget about drawing,” he said.

Lazy or not, we're glad you finally did it, Datuk Lat.
