The 2019 SEA Games has started with a bang, and every Malaysian is hopeful that our athletes will bring back more gold medals this year.

To inspire our fellow athletes, the Sports Ministry has appointed a local sporting legend to act as a mentor for the national team.

And to be honest, we can't think of anyone better to serve as a mentor for #TeamMalaysia.

Smashing success

A role that's fit for Nicole.
If you're wondering who the mentor is, it is none other than our squash queen, Nicol David!

According to a report by The News Straits Times, quoting Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, the appointment of the eight-time world champion will fire up the Malaysian athletes, especially the young ones.

“I am confident that with Nicol’s presence and she meeting them, especially during the night before a big match, will bring a huge change (in results),” he was quoted by the daily as saying.

Her presence will definitely inspire our athletes.
Nicol, who retired from competitive squash in June, is also equally excited to be named mentor for the Malaysian contingent.

“I feel different today, wearing the national contingent’s official suit because I have always dressed as an athlete to represent the country but today, I get to play a bigger role.”

According to the daily, the 36-year-old will depart for Manila on 6 December.

With Nicole's presence, we are pretty sure #TeamMalaysia will be inspired. Go for gold, you guys!
