Los Angeles to House George Lucas’ ‘Star Wars’ Museum
The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art that is almost a decade in the making will see Los Angeles as its new home. Star Wars creator George Lucas’ US$1 billion (RM4.48 billion) storytelling museum was initially planned for Chicago, but the team decided to pull the project after running into some legal challenges.

The museum to be built in LA’s Exposition Park will showcase Lucas’ life-long work, including collection of paintings, illustrations and digital art from the Star Wars film franchise. This site is located next to the University of Southern California, where Lucas actually studied film and met the likes of Steven Spielberg and more! So it’s no surprise why the filmmaker chose this city.Image: The Examiner
The project became the subject of rivalry between LA and San Francisco with the latter offering Treasure Island as the museum’s potential home. “We have been humbled by the overwhelmingly positive support we received from both San Francisco and Los Angeles during our selection process,” the museum’s board of directors said in a statement. However, the team felt that the final location "best positions the museum to have the greatest impact on the broader community, fulfilling our goal of inspiring, engaging and educating a broad and diverse visitorship”.We’re excited to see this epic museum materialise. It's time to start saving money for LA! Who's with us?
