Major Changes Within FAM With TMJ As New President

Johor Crown Price Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, or more fondly known as TMJ (Tengku Mahkota Johor) by the rakyat, recently took over as president of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) on 25 March and his first order of business was to implement some major changes.
On Monday, FAM announced on their Facebook page that the national football team will use the name Harimau Malaya again after former FAM president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, who is also the Crown Prince of Pahang, introduced a new name for the national team - Harimau Malaysia - back in February 2016.
According to Tengku Abdullah, he hoped that the new name would renew the team’s fighting spirit following their poor FIFA rankings at the time. The team also had a new logo and new song.
However, many fans have requested FAM to revert to the original name based on many historic moments created by the national team during its glory days.
Hence, FAM - under the leadership of TMJ - decided to re-introduce the old team name and logo. The official Harimau Malaysia website will also reportedly be shut down immediately.
Fans can follow the latest updates about Malaysian football on FAM’s official website and Facebook page, which will be updated more regularly from this point onwards.
This must be an effort set forth by TMJ, also the owner of the Johor Darul Takzim football club, who always made sure that the Southern Tigers Facebook page was constantly updated to create more interaction among football fans.

Another important announcement the FAM made recently was their plan to lay off 20 administration and technical staff within the organisation.
According to FAM secretary-general Hamidin Mohd Amin in a Facebook post, employees affected have already been informed and they will reportedly each receive three months salary in full before 15 April.
This effort was to ensure that the organisation meets its objective of managing and controlling the association’s finances. Each FAM unit and branch will be combined based on the set organisation.
We hope that these new implementations by FAM under TMJ’s leadership will transform the entire landscape of Malaysian football in a positive light.
