The vaccination process in the country has been slower than expected, but the government is doing their best.

And earlier this week, they've finally hit a milestone they set out to achieve by the end of this month.

Vaccination pace picking up

The New Straits Times reported that Malaysia has hit the highest number of COVID-19 vaccine jabs administered in a day.

According to the COVID-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKJAV), all the hardworking medical officers managed to administer 150,000 doses on Tuesday (8 June) alone.

Out of the 150,000 doses, 105,722 of them were first doses, while the remaining 45,587 were second doses.

By achieving that figure, the government has reached its target, which is to achieve a daily vaccination rate of 150,000 doses by the end of this month.

Next up, the government targets to increase daily vaccination to 200,000 doses starting in July 2021, which is pretty doable considering that the government will be introducing mobile vaccination trucks and drive-through vaccination centers around the country soon.

More people vaccinated

As of Tuesday, the JKJAV revealed that a total of 3,790,121 of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.

A total of 2.5 million individuals have been vaccinated, while another 12 million have registered to receive the vaccine.
