The Sun reported that Malaysia has officially launched our very own COVID-19 test kit called ImmuSAFE.ImmuSAFE is reportedly the world’s first lab-based, multi-antigen and multi-domain COVID-19 serology test, and it was jointly developed by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) and Sengenics Sdn Bhd.
According to MARii chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Madani Sahari, the test kit is able to detect and quantify an individual’s antibody protective level of the disease.
On top of that, the companies revealed that the test kit has 100 per cent sensitivity and results could be obtained in just a couple of hours.
However, Madani said ImmuSAFE test will not replace the Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests, but they could be use together to enhance the accuracy of the readings.
But before you head to your latest pharmacy to stock up on ImmuSAFE, you need to wait for a bit.
Madani told the daily that the test kit is not available in the market yet, as they are still awaiting approval from the Medical Device Authority (MDA) to be sold to the public.
But hey, what a great first step forward, right?
