On Monday, the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games kicked off with two sporting events – football and netball.

Both games saw a strong finish from the Malaysian teams after they managed to beat out their rivals for their first win.

The Malaysian netball team went up against Thailand and bludgeon them with a staggering 73-30 win. Way to go, girls!

The match took place at the Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara. We will be facing Brunei on Tuesday, Singapore on Wednesday, and Philippines on Friday.

Our netball team previously bagged the silver medal in the 2015 SEA Games and a gold medal Malaysia played host in 2001. They are on a mission to reclaim the gold medal in this installment of the games.

As for our football squad, we had a narrow 2-1 win against Brunei on Monday night.

The squad were off to a perfect start after Safawi Rasid scored the opening goal in the fourth minute. Brunei then equalised in the 12th minute, which added pressure to the team.

Thankfully, Adam Nor Azlin scored the winning goal in the 61st minute.

Congratulations to both teams! We’re looking forward to the other matches and may our athletes bring home the gold this year.
