Malaysia Ranks as the 3rd Wealthiest Nation in Southeast Asia
Malaysia has been ranked the third richest country in Southeast Asia, with a gross domestic product (GDP) per capita of US$14,423 (about RM61,093), according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF)’s 2025 report.
Additionally, the report also stated that Malaysia placed 71st in the global list.
Singapore led the report with a staggering US$93,956 (RM403,256), subsequently placing the country 4th globally.
Brunei is the 2nd richest country in Southeast Asia, with a per capita GDP of US$37,023 (RM158,902).
Meanwhile, other neighbouring countries like Thailand and Indonesia posted US$7,754 (RM33,280) and US$5,248 (RM22,524), respectively.

On top of that, as reported in The Sun, Malaysia's per capita income also exceeds the average for Asia Pacific, which is US$9,179 (RM39,396) and the Southeast Asia average of US$6,141 (RM26,357), further cementing its status as a regional economic leader.
