Malaysia Refuses to Release Kim Jong-nam’s Body Until DNA Sample is Obtained from Family

All eyes are on Malaysia and North Korea after the case of Kim Jong-nam, Kim Jong-un’s half-brother’s assassination came to light in our country.

New details have emerged after police managed to arrest two prominent suspects – the ‘secret agent’ wearing the infamous ‘LOL’ sweatshirt, who was travelling under a Vietnamese passport named Doan Thi Huong; and her counterpart, an Indonesian female named Siti Aishah. Police are also looking for another four men who were believed to be involved in the assassination.

According to sources from The Star, CCTV footage caught a day before the incident showed four men and the two women who have been detained walking around KLIA2 together and were even seen being playful by spraying some sort of substance onto each other.

Today, it was learned that Malaysia will not release the body of Kim Jong-nam until his family members provide a DNA sample despite the request from Pyongyang. According to Selangor Chief Police, Abdul Samah Mat, “So far, no family member or next of kin has come to identify or claim the body. We need a DNA sample of a family member to match the profile of the dead person.”

In order for the authorities to return North Korea’s request for the body, they have to identify who the body truly belongs to. It is highly unlikely Kim Jong-un or his family members will step up to the plate to provide their DNAs as many have speculated that his half-brother’s assassination was actually a direct order from him.
