Malaysia Is The Top Muslim-Friendly Travel Destination In The World

If you are a Muslim, travelling abroad (especially to European countries) can be a hassle, especially when it comes to halal food.

But for Muslims all over the globe, travelling to Malaysia won’t be a problem because our country has a plethora of halal food available almost anywhere, ample amenities and mosques to accommodate prayers, and many more.

This is probably why Malaysia managed to secure the top spot on Mastercard-CrescentRating’s Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) for 2019.

Have you been to the Masjid Negara?
The GMTI is evaluated based on four areas – access, communications, environment, and service.

Malaysia has topped the list a whopping nine times in a row but this time, we’re sharing the crown for the first-time ever with our neighbour Indonesia with a score of 78 points.

In 2018, we scored slightly higher with 80.6 points, but hey, we're still number one.

The ever-so stunning Kota Kinabalu City mosque.
Other Muslim countries in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) that made it to the top 10 are Turkey (75 points), Saudi Arabia (72), United Arab Emirates (71), Qatar (68), Morocco (67), Bahrain (66), Oman (66), and Brunei (65).

Although Singapore is not in the top ten of this list, they are, however, still the top Muslim-friendly non-OIC destination for Muslim travelers.

Let's all work together to keep Malaysia on top of this ranking for many years to come. Malaysia boleh!
