Malaysia Tops Global Muslim Travel Index
It is no surprise that Malaysia and our melting pot of culture is a popular destination for foreign visitors, as proven in the latest global survey carried out by Crescent Rating.
According to Bernama, Malaysia was ranked first in the Global Muslim Travel Index last year.
Not only that, it was also reported that Euromonitor International identified Kuala Lumpur as one of the Top 100 Cities Destinations.
Additionally, United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) has placed Malaysia at no. 14 in terms of tourist arrivals and 21st place for tourism receipt last year.

According to the report, Malaysia’s rising middle-income populations, lower inflation and short-haul destinations are some of the factors that attract tourists.
No doubt, the nation's tourist arrival is expected to rise in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2020 (VM2020) based on the Economic Outlook 2020 report, as quoted by Bernama.

Despite that, the report mentioned that we are facing a couple of challenges that needs ironing out, which include the lack of new tourism products, limited air routes, as well as safety and security concerns.
Malaysia is also overly dependent on tourist arrivals from Singapore
Let's keep our fingers crossed that these underlying issues will be looked into soon.
