Any one can fall victim to a cyber attack.

Even Malaysian authorities, as they found out the hard way.

Managed to prevent the attack

The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) has confirmed earlier this week that its network has been targeted by a cyber attack in an attempt to steal information.

Its chief Tan Sri Affendi Buang confirmed the incident to The Star Online.

According to Affendi, the cyber attack was on network data belonging to the MAF.

Thankfully, the Cyber and Electromagnetic Defence division and the Cyber Defence Operation Centre (CDOC) managed to detect the attack before they lose any important data.

The MAF website was reportedly hacked.
"As soon as the attack occurred, both the division and CDOC isolated data traffic to mask the location of crucial data and protect the network targetted by the hackers," Affendi Buang was quoted as saying.

He added that this is not the first time such an attempt has taken place as there were continuous cyber attack attempts on the Defence Ministry and MAF's data networks before this.

However, he added that MAF will always monitor the situation and increase its cyber security.

We really hope the cyber terrorists do not get their hands on any sensitive information.
