In case you're not aware, we have a lot of talented comic artists in Malaysia:
In fact, one of them was recently nominated for a very prestigious international award!

Meet the talented artist

According to a report by The Star Online, Malaysian comics creator Erica Eng has been nominated for an Eisner Award for her webcomic ‘Fried Rice Comic’.
And if you're wondering why this is such a big deal, it is because the Eisner Award is the comic industry's equivalent of the Oscars!
You can check out Eng’s webcomic, which is about the life of a young girl living in Kuala Lumpur, on her Tumblr page.
Eng’s work will compete in the Best Webcomic category, against other worthy contenders such as ‘Chuckwagon at The End Of The World’ by Erik Lundy, ‘The Eyes’ by Javi de Castro, ‘Cabramatta’ by Matt Huynh, and ‘reMIND’ by Jason Brubaker.
Usually, the Eisner Awards are presented at the annual Comic Con International in San Diego, but because of this whole COVID-19 pandemic (ugh!), the event has been cancelled.
However, according to the awards’ official website, the awards will still be given out, but the method and exact date has not been announced yet.
This is not the first time Malaysian comic creators have been nominated for the award.
In 2018, Reimena Yee's ‘The Carpet Merchant Of Konstantiniyya’ was nominated for the Best Digital Comic Eisner, while in 2003, Tan Eng Huat was nominated for the Best Penciller/Inker Eisner in 2003 for his work on DC Comics’ ‘Justice League Of America’.
In fact, Malaysian-born Singaporean comics creator Sonny Liew won three Eisners in 2017 for ‘The Art Of Charlie Chan Hock Chye’.
Maybe this year Erica will bring home the award? All the best to you!
