This Malaysian Company Produces Plant-Based Burgers & Seafood for the Global Market
Did you know that a Malaysian company is one of the biggest exporters of seafood in the world? Golden Fresh Sdn Bhd is the owner of Pacific West, a global frozen seafood brand that exports to 26 countries around the world.
Head quartered in Penang, Golden Fresh founded Pacific West to serve the Australian market in 1995 and now their seafood products are sold at global restaurant chains and international sports events including The Championships, Wimbledon, the Euro Cup and World Rugby.
They also supply to IKEA and supermarket chains Aldi in Germany and Carrefour in France.
And to think that Malaysians have been going to England or Australia for fish and chips this whole time.
To add to their list of achievements, they have now ventured into new ground, plant-based food, in particular, burgers and fish fingers.
Rather than going for imported brands like Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat, this local brand Pacific Greens has more affordable options. For instance, their Fishless Fingers retail for RM16.75 while Pacific West’s Cod Fish Fingers goes for RM22.00.
All of their products are also certified halal.
So far, there are three options for plant-based foods:
