Ever since the cycling trend latched onto Malaysians throughout the CMCO period, we’ve been hearing a lot of negative things about them.

From cycling on highways, running red lights, to obstructing other road users, it seems that the government needs to put in some regulation for these cyclists.

Perhaps realising that cycling on highways isn’t the way to go, these cyclists have expressed their wish to use motorcycle lanes instead.

From highway to motorcycle lane

That's so dangerous.
According to Astro Awani, Plan A Community Bukit Jelutong founder Faz Adhili says that the authorities should reserve the motorcycle lanes exclusively for riders on weekends.

This is to ensure that the safety of cyclists.

“I recommend that on weekends, motorcycle lanes on major highways like Guthrie, Kesas, and Federal be closed for cyclists,” Faz said.

“This is because the motorcycle traffic on weekends is much lesser.”

He added that although there are dedicated bicycle lanes in Shah Alam and Kuala Lumpur, they aren’t able to fully utilise it.

“Most of these lanes are often blocked by parked cars or even hawker stalls.”

Well, what say you Malaysians especially motorcyclists? Should the lane be closed for cyclists?
