Yugendran Rajaendran has always dreamt of studying at one of the top global universities in the world.

Thanks to his hard work and dedication, his dream came true!

Recently graduating from an A-level programme at Epsom College in Malaysia (ECM), the 20-year-old has been accepted into the prestigious California-based Stanford University’s Class of 2024, reported Malay Mail.

Impressive!
What’s more impressive is the fact that the straight A scorer in SPM, applied to 15 different top global universities and got accepted into 10 of those universities, including the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), New York University (NYU), Columbia University, Yale University, Carnegie Melon University and King’s College London.

Whoa!

Malaysia, represent!

Yugendran will be the only Malaysian student in Stanford’s Class of 2024 and is planning to pursue a double degree in Bioengineering and Mathematical and Computational Science.

Representing Malaysia.

He said he settled for Stanford University, which is ranked second in the QS World University rankings because of the university’s state of the art bioengineering facilities that could aid him in his efforts to become a medical scientist.

“During my A-levels, I got interested in bioengineering because it is related to cancer and stem cell research. It is really fascinating to me.

“Cancer is one of those diseases that we haven’t found a cure for yet, and stem cell research shows promising results. I researched more about it and realised that this was one of the ways that I could contribute to the scientific community,” he said.

He added that he also picked to major in Mathematical and Computational Science (Data Science) as he hopes to one day work with the Malaysian health ministry in local healthcare policymaking.

What ambitious dreams!

All the best Yugendran and congratulations!
