According to a report by The Star, the 28-year-old woman was found at 10am today morning by passers-by. She was bound in metal chains and locks, squatting by the road side. She was later freed by firemen who arrived on the scene to cut the chains.
According to the fire department, she was accompanied by her family members during the ordeal. She was then taken away by a man claiming to be her brother, but the police are now on the lookout for the woman.

Further investigation by The Star revealed that the woman had a chequered past: physical abuse, alcoholism, and a broken marriage. A neighbour who recognised the woman told reporters that she was a drunkard and was even found walking naked in the streets one night.

The Mysterious Brother

The report by The New Straits Times however, claims that the brother in question had chained her to stop her from leaving the home. The brother claims that he could not find his sister the morning after and it is still unclear how she managed to escape the home. Police have her name and IC number but the home address led to an abandoned house.

No explanation was given to why the police let her and the brother go without further questioning, but they are in the process of tracking down the pair. Those with information are urged to contact the police hotline at 03 2052 9999 or visit the nearest police station.

This story parallels another story of a mother chaining her eight-year-old to a pole in Sunway. Perhaps the 'chain to change' method of rehabilitation is somehow gaining growth in the community.
