Although we have moved into the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) phase, that doesn’t mean that we should take things for granted, especially when the COVID-19 pandemic is still rampant worldwide.

Recently, a photo of a woman wearing a pink wristband enjoying her meal at a restaurant went viral.

The woman, who was reportedly having a meal at Bandar Meru Raya, was wearing a pink wristband from the Ministry of Health, indicating that this person is currently undergoing a 14-day home quarantine upon returning to Malaysia.

Malaysians are outraged

The photo was shared by Dr Jemilah Mahmood, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, on Twitter and has garnered over 16,000 retweets to date.

“It’s people like her that increase our nation’s risk to second wave,” Dr Jemilah said.

Malaysians wasted no time in criticising her and demand that her selfish act be paid with stern action.

The case has prompted the Perak Health Department to launch an investigation on the individual, who flouted home quarantine as reported by Astro Awani.

“If we have substantial evidence, we will take action against her including legal action,” Perak Health Director Datuk Dr Ding Lay Ming said.

In about 24 hours since the photo went viral, another netizen shared a photo of a man sporting the same wristband hanging out at a coffee shop in Desa Sri Hartamas.

Yikes! We hope the MOH would find these people and swoop them up as quickly as possible to prevent another wave of COVID-19.

Do you think the government should reintroduce the mandatory quarantine at the quarantine centers just like during the early stages of MCO?
