adies, next time you’re in a public toilet, keep an eye out for suspicious characters because a Peeping Tom was just nabbed by the police for donning a headscarf or tudung to secretly film women.

Twitter account @jnmalaysia posted the following 2-minute 11-second video on X, which has since gone viral with 1M views as of the time of writing.

In the video, members of the public apprehended the Peeping Tom as he was suspected of having filmed women in a toilet at Kipmarat Masai Mall in Pasir Gudang, Johor. He was held by another man while being interrogated off-camera by a woman.

The woman reprimanded him while saying, “Give me the password now! Properly. Don't you dare lie... or else I will beat you!” According to the caption, he had recorded over 40 videos on his phone.

“You know how to be embarrassed but you weren’t embarrassed about sneaking into the women’s toilet. Your behaviour is like sh*t, you know,” she further berated him.

Those who surrounded him then zoomed in on his feet, which showed that he was wearing women’s slippers, and his toenails were dyed with ‘inai’ or henna. A man then forced him to put his tudung, which was pink. The man seemed frustrated and abashed as he put the tudung and revealed that he was married. He also claimed that it was his wife who had painted his nails for him as he had ingrown toenails, to the disbelief of the onlookers.

Netizens were amazed by the video and the spunk of the woman who spoke to him as she threatened to hit him over the head with a power bank.

NST has reported that the 23-year-old man has been arrested by the police. It also explained that he was caught by members of the public who were alerted to him after a woman (a victim) suspected what he was doing and screamed.

Seri Alam district police chief Superintendent Mohd Sohaimi Ishak who confirmed the arrest, said the incident occurred on 22 October at 11 am at the Kipmart Mall in Taman Bukit Dahlia.

"The incident came to light after a video was circulated on social media platforms depicting a man being detained by members of the public, for allegedly peeping in the mall's women's toilet," he said.

Mohd Sohaimi applauded the action of members of the public for detaining the man and also reminded them that it's an offence to injure or harm any individual suspected of committing any criminal offences.

The man who has no prior criminal offences, is in police custody to facilitate investigations under Section 377D of the Penal Code for gross indecency. If found guilty, he may be faced with up to two years in prison.
