The man reportedly infected a family member and five of his staff, who were all living together with him.

The news caused outrage among Malaysians, and internet sleuths managed to dig up more info about the man: the man is indeed the owner of the Nasi Kandar Salleh Napoh restaurant in Jitra, which the police have confirmed as well.

Public urged to undergo testing

According to Harian Metro, the police are urging the public who dined in at the eatery between 13-24 July to come forward and test themselves at the nearest clinic.

The restaurant owner was reportedly spotted around his restaurant upon his return from India, while 'flexing' the infamous pink wristband.

Authorities slapped him with a RM1,000 fine for flouting his home quarantine.

According to the report, the permanent resident was initially tested negative when he arrived at KLIA, but later came out positive after the second test.

For the time being, the restaurant has been closed down and is currently being monitored by the police.

Kubang Pasu chief police Superintendan Mohd Ismail Ibrahim told the news portal that the restaurant was shut down after the owner was arrested.

According to locals, truck drivers who were travelling far would often make a pit stop at the restaurant, and if they fail to get themselves tested, it would spell disaster.
