You know the saying, 'at first if you don't succeed, try and try again'?

Well, this saying is not really applicable for every thing.

Second time's the charm?

A man was rescued, and later detained by the police, after he was found floating in the middle of the sea near Tanjung City Marina on Monday (2 August).

According to News Straits Times, the man, who pulled the same stunt last month, jumped into the sea from the same spot.

His reason this time? He wanted to swim to Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

Yep, you read that right!

Not giving up.
Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Soffian Santong told the daily that the 28-year-old was rescued by the marine police shortly after he jumped into the sea.

The police reportedly received a call at 4.55pm from the public, informing them that there was a man found floating in the waters off Penang on a Styrofoam float.

"Initial investigation showed that both incidents involved the same man. This time, the man said he wanted to reach to the holy Muslim city of Makkah," Soffian was quoted as saying.

Shortly after he was fished out from the sea, the man was detained by the police.

"Following the incident, the man has been taken to Penang Hospital for treatment and mental health evaluation. He is now at the Jalan Perak psychiatric ward for further treatment," Soffian told NST.

Video footage and photographs of the incident have gone viral on social media.

Not his first time

In the first incident on 12 July, the man decided to jump into the sea and swim his way to Seberang Prai to meet a friend after failing to obtain an approval to travel across districts.

However, his determination was cut short when he gave up mid-way after getting tired.

He was then rescued by Penang Port Sdn Bhd workers.

The man was rescued from the sea last month.
The man was reportedly sent to the Penang Hospital, where he was confirmed to be suffering from mental problems.

We hope the authorities will find a way to keep this man away from the sea before he gets hurt.
