Being the nation's first ever locally produced car, the name Proton Saga undoubtedly brings pride to all Malaysians.

But for one man, Proton Saga is literally his name.

An orang asli man from Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Jentong in Trolak, Perak recalled the day when his son was born and he ran out of ideas on what to name him.

Kelambu Jambi, 54, told Malay daily Sinar Harian that he and his wife had trouble coming up with a name for his firstborn almost 33 years ago because he is illiterate.

That was when he asked a police sergeant for help.

"He suggested the name Proton Saga, and I just went with it," Kelambu told the daily.

At the time, Kelambu told Sinar Harian, the name Proton Saga was on everyone's lips as Malaysia were all set to launch its first production car.

He added that he and his wife did not regret the name but instead, they feel proud every time someone says his son's name.

"Every one says that he has a unique name. As a father, of course I am proud," he was further quoted as saying.

Proton's unique name first attracted the attention of the Netizens when a photo of his BR1M offer letter was shared on social media.

Proton Saga, the eldest of seven siblings, was born on 6 August 1984 - a full 11 months before the first Saga rolled off the plant and was driven around on the Penang bridge by then-Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Oh, here's the best bit: Proton Saga actually named his son Viva, after the compact car produced by local automaker Perodua!

But still, his name is nothing compared to this guy's:
