Almost a week after certain parts of the country were ravaged by floods, thousands of Malaysians are still reeling from the experience.

Just when we thought that things have settled down, well; it's a wake up call that the weather can be quite unpredictable.

Monsoon surge

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET Malaysia) has issued a bad weather notice starting from 27 to 29 December.

According to Malay Mail, continuous heavy rain is expected to occur in certain parts of the east coast of the peninsular as well as western parts of Sarawak next week.

This comes after MET Malaysia forecasted a monsoon surge during that period of time.

A monsoon surge happens when cold winds surge southwards from Siberia, resulting in rough seas and strong winds in the South China Sea.

“Members of the public are advised to plan their journeys to these areas and always be aware of the latest update.

“MetMalaysia will continue to monitor the weather situation 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and will issue Continuous Heavy Rain Warning and Thunderstorm Warning when circumstances require,” said MetMalaysia in a Facebook posting.

Remember to stay safe and dry yeah, guys?
