Just a couple of weeks ago, the government announced that they might consider ending the current conditional movement control order (CMCO) early if we manage to control the number of COVID-19 cases:

However, judging by the latest news, that probably won't happen any time soon.

Last resort

On Monday (16 November), Senior Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in his daily press briefing that the government may place several districts and localities in Kuala Lumpur under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).

According to Malay Mail, the EMCO idea was discussed as the Federal Territories have been recording higher than usual COVID-19 cases this past week or so, despite the state being placed under CMCO since 14 October.

Let's hope it doesn't come to this.
Ismail Sabri said that if cases continue to rise in Kuala Lumpur, the EMCO will come into play.

“In the Federal Territory (of Kuala Lumpur), there is a possibility of it (EMCO) being enforced but it would be decided by Ministry of Health. They will evaluate each area and decide if there is a need for an EMCO to be enforced," he was quoted as saying, adding that the MOH has yet to make such recommendation to the National Security Council.

For the time being, KL will continue to be placed under the CMCO until 6 December, Ismail Sabri said.

KL recorded a total of 392 new cases on Monday, with a majority of them coming from the active Damanlela cluster in Damansara, which primarily involves foreign construction workers.

The numbers are indeed scary, but let's continue to do our part by staying at home, OK?
