Mothers will do anything for their children.

Yes, that includes fighting off mountain lions to save their children’s lives!

Supermom to the rescue

That was exactly what a woman in California did after a 30kg mountain lion attacked her 5-year-old son on her very own front yard.

USA Today reported that the incident reportedly happened last Thursday (26 August) when the child was playing by a tree near his home in Calabasas, west of Los Angeles.

According to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the wild beast came out of nowhere and attacked the child.

The mountain lion managed to drag the kid for "about 45 yards" across the front lawn before the supermom leapt into action.

The woman reportedly punched the wild animal and even wrestled it away from her child at her front yard.

Department spokesman Patrick Foy told the news portal that the woman not only stopped the attack on her son, but she also managed to scare the animal away by punching it.

“The true hero of this story is his mom because she absolutely saved her son’s life. She ran out of the house and started punching and striking the mountain lion with her bare hands and got him off her son," Foy was quoted as saying.

Boy was taken to the hospital

According to Foy, the mother noticed the attack when she heard her son screaming.

The woman and her husband later reportedly rushed their injured child to the hospital.

Thankfully, the child did not suffer any serious injuries as a result of the attack.

The boy reportedly suffered from traumatic injuries to his head and upper torso, but he is now in a stable condition, the report said.

Let's hope that the mountain lion has learned its lesson: never mess with an angry mother.
