When was the last time you checked your blood sugar levels to see if it is within the normal range?
Don’t remember when? Well, it’s now a good time to get yourself checked as diabetes can lead to other health complications, the most serious being kidney failure.
In fact, The Star Online reported that more than 100,000 Malaysians will possibly suffer from kidney failure over the next two decades.
Health Ministry medical development division director Datuk Dr Bahari Tok Muda Che Awang Ngah told the news portal that in 2016, some 39,711 Malaysians were on dialysis due to kidney failure.
"The number is increasing exponentially every year and it is expected that 106,000 Malaysians will suffer kidney failure requiring dialysis by 2040," he was quoted as saying.

"While the recent sugar tax will eventually lead to Malaysians consuming less sugar, more needs to be done to address this health issue.
"What is required is for Malaysians to adopt healthier lifestyles such as exercising more,” he advised.
