More Than 70 Per Cent Of Fresh Grads Prefer Buying Foreign Cars, Says Proton

Looks like Proton and Perodua's goal of increasing their market share this year has just gotten a little bit harder.
That's because based on a study done by local car maker Proton, more than 70 per cent of local university graduates prefer to buy foreign brands.
Proton's CEO Abdul Rashid Musa told Malay daily Harian Metro that these statistics were obtained through a detailed study commissioned by the country's first automaker.
According to Abdul Rashid, less than 10 per cent of fresh graduates bought locally-made cars as they feel Proton and Perodua vehicles are inferior compared to their foreign counterparts.
“About 70% of graduates choose to buy foreign cars because they think the national car is not comparable to foreign brands, despite not having experienced driving the national car," Abdul Rashid was quoted as saying.
This comparison is not fair, according to Abdul Rashid, as fresh grads would often compare local cars with luxury brands.
But hey, when your car's price tag is almost similiar to those made in Japan, all is fair, no?
