A mother would do anything to protect her children, including fighting wild beasts in the jungle.

That is not even an exaggeration!

A brave mother from the Baiga tribe of the Badi Jharia village in Madhya Pradesh, India , actually fought off a leopard to save her eight-year-old son.

The village is situated in the buffer zone of the Sanjay Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi district.

Tracked and fought off a leopard

According to a report in Malay Mail quoting a report in India Today, the mother of three, known as Kiran, was sitting by a fire with her children outside their hut.

Suddenly, a leopard sprang out of nowhere and pounced on one of her kids before running off into the forest.

Despite the situation, Kiran managed to keep calm and locked her other children inside her hut before hunting for the leopard.

The tiger reserve’s director Y.P Singh said Kiran eventually found the leopard after tracking it for nearly one kilometre.

He said Kiran kept attempting to scare the leopard off with a stick.

“The leopard probably got scared with the woman's courage and left the child.

“While Kiran immediately took her son in her arms, the feline attacked her.

“However, she overpowered the big cat with her valour,” he said.

Both Kiran and her son suffered injuries in the attack and their treatment cost will be covered by the forest department.

Kiran is truly a wonder woman!
