Imagine working as a Grab rider and arriving at a customer’s home to deliver food only to discover that the entire order was part of a year-long harassment campaign against the resident.

It may sound exaggerated, but that’s exactly what happened to one household in Kuching, Sarawak.

In a viral Facebook post uploaded on June 16, a female Grab rider shared her bizarre experience after accepting a cash-on-delivery food order at around 10 pm that same day.

According to the rider, who goes by the username Tracy Law, she noticed a “Don’t Honk” sign outside the home upon arrival. Thinking nothing of it, she messaged the customer through the Grab app to inform them that their order had arrived.

“The customer replied with a ‘thank you’ but didn’t come out. When I asked again, he told me to honk and even sent a photo of the house. I pointed out the ‘Don’t Honk’ sign, but he insisted,” she wrote.

Since it was already late, Tracy chose not to honk and instead looked for a doorbell. She also tried calling the customer, but the number appeared to be registered in China and the call failed.

At that moment, a man in a silver Perodua Axia pulled up beside her and revealed the truth.

“He told me he had also been tricked the day before by a similar order to the same address, placed under a different name. He claimed the person had been using multiple fake accounts to send drivers to the house in Tabuan Laru.”

Shortly after, another Grab rider arrived at the house with a second order, again under a different name

Concerned, Tracy spoke to the neighbors and discovered that the harassment had been ongoing for a year.

They claimed it all started after the daughter of the family living in the house rejected a marriage proposal from a man based in China.

“The neighbour said he began sending Grab riders to the house almost daily, from early morning until as late as 2 am, ever since the incident.”

Grab riders in the area are now being urged not to accept orders to that address

Despite police reports and the involvement of the local community committee, the harassment has continued.

Tracy has since urged other delivery riders in the area to avoid accepting orders to the house.
