We don't see this often, but NASA has got social media buzzing after they teased a possible big discovery that has something to do with our moon.

A few days ago, NASA announced that it'll be revealing exciting new discoveries about the moon on 26 October.

The space agency, however, did not mention what the new discovery is, but it has something to do with deep space exploration.

"This new discovery contributes to NASA’s efforts to learn about the Moon in support of deep space exploration.

"Under NASA’s Artemis program, the agency will send the first woman and next man to the lunar surface in 2024 to prepare for our next giant leap – human exploration of Mars as early as the 2030s.

"Understanding the science of the Moon also helps piece together the broader history of the inner solar system," the space agency announced on its website.

NASA also shared the date of the announcement on its social media sites, prompting wild guesses from followers.

Hilarious guesses

We have to say some of the guesses we saw on Twitter got us in stitches!

We've compiled our favourites so we can spread some of the laughter with you guys (considering that we've had our fair share of angry tweets these past couple of weeks):

Some of the jokes are dark, we have to say, but the world is going through a dark time so it's only apt.

Jokes aside, we can't wait to learn what NASA has to share! What do you think the announcement will be about?
