Though this plan may be beneficial for the most of us, there are still a number of Malaysians who are badly affected by the pandemic.
Following this, netizens have started a campaign with the hashtag #BenderaPutih (white flag) in a bid to help those in dire need.
Rakyat jaga rakyat… again!
The mechanics of the #BenderaPutih movement is simple: by hanging a white flag outside of your house or gate, and making sure it’s visible to others, it signals that you’ve run out of basic necessities or food.
It could even be a plea for any kind of help.
Images of the movement and white flags have gone viral on social media, with many kind-hearted Malaysians reaching out to help those who are affected.
“Avoid getting stressed. You don’t need to beg and don’t need to be ashamed. Just put up a white flag and help will come,” the viral image said.
#BenderaPutih?️ doesn’t mean you are accepting defeat or failing miserably. You’re just ‘calling for back up’. We are here for you.

Biar orang sekeliling pakat bantu sedikit sebanyak yang termampu.
Tolong jangan ambil tindakan yang meremukkan hati orang yang tersayang.
Tak perlu merayu, tak perlu malu. Kibar saja bendera pic.twitter.com/BGy7muxcMc
#BenderaPutih is not about giving up, it's about surviving. It's not wrong to get/request help when in need. Shame to all those politicians who are trying to get free ride on this movement and also those who shame and blame the people for this! #RakyatJagaRakyat

#KempenBenderaPutih / #BenderaPutih is such a heartwarming but at the same time, heartbreaking initiative by rakyat for rakyat.

Nak tunggu #KerajaanGagal / #KerajaanPembunuh to send help bertahun lagi kot. Seriously, how do you guys sleep at night?
I think this is one of the alternative untuk meminta bantuan. Manusia perlu makan dan minum untuk teruskan hidup tapi maruah masih ada untuk tidak meminta minta.

Another day, come on #Malaysian ! let's unite and care for each other. Start with our mental health, it's okay not to be okay, let's raise up our white flags, and we will help one another ??#BenderaPutih

Last year, a similar movement was created, #KitaJagaKita, with the aim of helping out those in need.
Due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic and extended Movement Control Order (MCO), a lot of people have lost their jobs and source of income, which led to all sorts of problems such as hunger, poverty, and even increasing suicide rates.
Charity begins at home, so let’s all do our part by checking on our family members and neighbours.
And to those who need help please don’t suffer in silence, as many are willing to extend a helping hand during these trying times.
Well done, Malaysians! Let’s continue to take care of each other.
