New feature to come soon
A new feature will be added to the MySejahtera application in order to identify pregnant and breastfeeding women so that they could be given the required vaccines, Free Malaysia Today reported.Science, Technology and Innovation minister Khairy Jamaluddin told the news portal that the new feature will be available by the end of this week.
Earlier, Khairy has revealed that for women who are 14 to 33 weeks pregnant, they are recommended to go for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
Lactating mothers, meanwhile, can be administered with both the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines.
As for the AstraZeneca vaccine, Khairy told FMT that the COVID-19 vaccine supply access guarantee special committee (JKJAV) will discuss whether or not to allow it to be administered to pregnant women.
Khairy also added that previously, breastfeeding mothers were turned away at the vaccinations center because the AstraZeneca vaccine was deemed not suitable for them.
If you or you know someone who was turned away, the government will get in touch with them soon to set a new appointment.
On top of that, Khairy also advised those who were turned away to directly contact the JKJAV for help.
Now that the government is making it simpler for expecting and breastfeeding mothers to get access to the vaccines, we hope that everyone will take the opportunity to get their vaccines.
