The New Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Is Set To Get A New Birthday
The Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, was officially installed as the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Monday, and with that, comes a new birthday.
According to a report by The New Straits Times, the Prime Minister's Department has agreed to move the Agong's birthday from the first Saturday of June to the last Saturday of July.
The PM's Department said in a statement that the move was made because for the next three years, the first Saturday of June coincides with the month of Ramadhan, therefore Sultan Muhammad V has requested for the birthday to be moved.
The King's birthday will be celebrated on the last Saturday of July for the entire duration of Sultan Muhammad V's reign, which is until the year 2021.
So, this year, the King's birthday will be celebrated on 29 July.
As for a public holiday, we don't really know; you might have to ask your boss.
