If you've not gotten a Touch 'n Go (TNG) RFID yet, this is your last chance to get it for free.

TNG recently announced that users would have to fork out cash for the Radio-frequency identification (RFID) - yup that's what it stands for - starting Feb 15.

According to a report in The Star, each RFID tag will retail for RM35 per unit with the first time replacement done for free.

Head to a fitment centre

At the moment, the RFID tag is available at fixed fitment centres located in Kelana Jaya, Bangsar South and along the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) highway.

Alternatively, you can also opt for walk-in fittings at selected locations in Johor, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

Touch ‘n Go CEO Syahrunizam Samsudin said that the company had invested in one million RFID tags during the pilot programme for the past 18 months.

"Now it is time for us to move forward and continue to expand the use of RFID technology together with our partners across the mobility ecosystem. This includes fuelling, parking, and retail drive-thrus," he said in statement.

The RFID system is currently available for toll payment at 23 highways throughout Peninsular Malaysia.

Self-fitment kit to be released soon

Additionally, Syahrunizam said TNG was also working on releasing a RFID self-fitment kit soon (yeay!) but they have not released further details nor confirmed the actual release date as yet.

Sooooo, if you haven't gotten your RFID tag, make an appointment or head to one of the walk-in fitment centres soon.
