It’s a sad day for those who have been taking full advantage of the free rides offered by the new Sungai Buloh-Kajang MRT line because the one-month privilege is officially over. Passengers will now have to pay full fares, which range from RM1.20 to RM3.90 under the cash fare structure, and between RM1.20 and RM3.40 via cashless payment. Commuters using the feeder buses will also be charged RM1 per trip. Senior citizens, students and people with disabilities travelling on the MRT and feeder buses will receive a 50% discount on all fares.

Last month’s promotional period certainly helped to encourage the public to start commuting regularly. The MRT managed to record more than one million passengers even without the direct connection and integration with the LRT and KTM. Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd CEO Datuk Zohari Sulaiman hopes these commuters would continue to utilise the MRT on a daily basis.

Although the one-month free ride period has ended, don’t worry! Members of the public can still look forward to more discounts and promotions in the future, especially while we wait patiently for more lines to open throughout the city.
