KB Mall Starbucks officially closed its doors last week (November 30), as reported by Sin Chew Daily.

The closure marks the end of Starbucks in Kelantan. The outlet is the last of three branches in the state to close.

According to reports, the outlet did not sell coffee for three days before its closure.

The closing down of the outlet was documented by award-winning photographer and self-proclaimed Starbucks coffee enthusiast Lee Chin Chuan. In an interview with the Chinese daily, Lee said the Starbucks outlet in KB Mall had already stopped serving coffee for 3 days.

“I believe they grounded the last of their coffee beans and customers could only order non-coffee beverages."

“Furthermore, the severe flooding in Kelantan left many displaced overnight. Among those affected were Starbucks employees, some of whom chose to resign rather than be transferred to outlets at other states,” he added

Meanwhile, Lee shared that the most emotional part of documenting the outlet’s closure was watching the employees write their resignation letters.

“Nevertheless, I wish them all the best for the future. Perhaps the experience they’ve gained here will help them excel and shine in their next workplace,” he shared.

The report also stated that due to the protest towards the ongoing genocidal war in Gaza, the number of Starbucks branches in this country that were temporarily closed had shown an increase from 25 outlets in June to 50 by the end of September.
