By now, you've most probably gone through hundreds of temperature checks as it has now become a norm.

Taking one's body temperature is important, as this would ensure that people who are sick can be kept away from a restaurant, a shop or a shopping mall.

And now, there's a new standard operating procedure (SOP) that would ease the burden of businesses a little bit.

No need to write down temperature

At most premises, customers have the option to either scan a QR code and fill in their details or record their presence in a book provided by the businesses.

It is common for businesses to require customers to record their names, contact detail, time of visit, as well as their temperature.

Bernama reported that customers will now no longer have to record their temperature in registration books.

"Taking of the temperature is to find out if customers are symptomatic or not, if they have symptoms they should not be allowed in, but it (temperature) is not compulsory to be recorded," Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said during a press conference.

If you've used the MySejahtera App, you'd know that you're not required to key in your temperature on it either, so this announcement doesn't come as a surprise to many.

However, if you're a business owner and have been penalised for not writing down a customer's temperature reading, you should talk to the relevant authorities to clear your names.

Ismail said that businesses can contact the authority that took action against them to get it overturned.

But it doesn't mean that you can just walk into a shop without having your temperature scanned, OK?
