Remember the story we put up yesterday about Mont Kiara residents who still go out jogging despite the Movement Control Order (MCO) being in effect?

Well, it looks like some of those joggers won't be jogging for a while now.

Most were expats

According to a report by Malay Mail, the police have arrested 11 people for flouting the MCO.

City police chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim told the news portal that the joggers were picked up during a routine police patrol around Jalan Mont Kiara and Jalan Desa Kiara between 7.30am and 9.30am.

Of the 11, nine of them were expats: four of them were Japanese, two were South Koreans, one was from India, one was American and the other was from the United Kingdom.

“All of them were arrested while jogging and found to have been disobeying the MCO.

“Those arrested also refused to heed to police warnings and advice while providing unreasonable excuses as to why they were outdoors,” Mazlan was quoted as saying.

The suspects were allowed bail after having their statements recorded by the police in accordance with Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

As a 'reward' for all their jogging, they will be investigated under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020, which comes with a fine of RM1,000, or a six-month jail term, or both if found guilty.

They were also investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant from discharging their public duties. The punishment for that, if convicted, will be a jail term of not more than two years, or a fine not exceeding RM10,000, or both.

Just stay home lah, you guys. Let's hope this serves as a warning for all those rule-breakers out there.
