Sees hand sanitiser dispenser. Approaches hand sanitiser dispenser.

Dab dab, rub rub. Three seconds and you're done.

Right way? Not quite right, says Malaysian nurse.

A video of a local nurse known as Nurse Hidayah has been making its rounds on social media lately.

The video features Nurse Hidayah demonstrating the proper way to use a hand sanitiser. (There are actually seven steps to the whole process!)

Seven steps to kill those germs

According to Nurse Hidayah, after dispensing sanitiser on hand, you are supposed to:

Step 1: Clasp your fingers together (like a burung when playing air, batu, burung) and rub the centre of your hands in a fast circular motion. This must be done before the sanitiser dries up. Do this for both your hands.

Step 1

Step 2: Rub your palms together.

Step 2

Step 3: Interlock your fingers and continue rubbing.

Step 3

Step 4: Put your right palm over your left, interlock fingers and rub rub rub again! (repeat with left palm over right)

Step 4

Step 5: Ball your right hand in a fist and use your left to rub over it. Same thing to be done for the left hand.

Step 5

Step 6: Put your fingers together and stick your thumb outward. Use the opposite hand to rub the area between your thumb and index finger. Must do for both hands ya!

Step 6

Step 7: Lastly, bring the sanitiser down to your wrists using your opposite hand (hand should cup wrist) and rub in a circular motion.

Step 7

DONE!

Thank you for that tutorial, Nurse Hidayah!

Now we know the proper way to sanitise our hands.

Don't only rely on sanitiser

Of course, using hand sanitisers are not the only way to protect yourself against Covid-19.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends that you wash your hands frequently, practice social distancing, avoid touching your face, to practice respitaratory hygiene and seek medical help if you notice Covid-19 symptoms. For a more detailed recommendation by WHO, visit their website.
