OCBC Bank Bhd and its Islamic banking subsidiary, OCBC Al-Amin Bank Bhd, will be waiving the withdrawal fee for Malaysians using their automated teller machines.

According to a report by Malaysiakini, in light of the COVID-19 outbreak, the bank will absorb the RM1 cash withdrawal fee levied to its customers for using another bank’s ATM.

The move is effective until the end of next month.

Quoting OCBC head of consumer financial services Lim Wyson, the news portal said that the initiative was part of the bank’s concerted efforts to encourage people to comply with the movement control order (MCO).

But please, try and minimise your trips to the ATM.
“The underlying message to all our customers is to ‘stay home and bank at home’, which can easily be done using our online banking services,” he said in a statement.

He also encouraged the bank’s customers to use their credit or debit cards whenever possible to reduce unnecessary trips to the ATM.

Also, the next time you make your way to the ATM, just withdraw more money so that you don't have to make severeal trips to the ATM.
