If you thought that 2020 is coming to an end and so are its nasty surprises, well...

Surprise!

Causes still unknown

A mysterious infection is reportedly spreading in southern India amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

In fact, Reuters reported that as many as 400 people have been hospitalised after they fell unconscious after suffering from seizures and nausea.

One person has reportedly died to date.

Quoting a statement from the state government, the report said that the cause of the outbreak has yet to be identified, and tests have effectively ruled out COVID-19.

Investigations are underway.
India's federal health ministry will reportedly send a team of medical experts to investigate the outbreak, as 300 children have also been infected with the mystery illness.

The report also said that people in all age groups are prone to the illness.

A public health director in Andhra Pradesh, Geeta Prasadini, told Reuters that the a 45-year-old man has been identified as patient zero, and his blood sample has been taken for further investigation.

Authorites have also started investigating the water supplies in 20 location around the outbreak.

Let's pray that they find the cause of the outbreak soon. We certainly do not need a new pandemic to start the new year. *touch wood*
