Politicians are just like any other citizen and that is a principle which our deputy prime minister continues to uphold.

Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail travelled to Mongolia to attend the 2018 Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) on Tuesday.

Although she could have flown using the government jet, she was willing to fly on a commercial airline instead and wait in transit for about six hours at Narita International Airport in Japan, as reported by New Straits Times.

Wan Azizah continues to set an example for other Malaysian politicians in the future.
Furthermore, she also requested not to have any excessive VVIP treatment on her first official visit abroad as deputy prime minister.

She had opted for a normal room at Shangri-La Hotel because it is more economical. She didn't want to add extra burden on the government's expenses at its current state.

Dr Wan Azizah is leading Malaysia's delegation at the eighth edition of the conference titled 'Preventing Risk of Disaster: Protecting Sustainable Development', representing the country at the Official session, Asian Leadership Meeting and Technical Session.

Following former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's arrest and charges, it is clear that the current government is strictly against corruption and will continue to scrutinise cash flow.
