If you have a habit of lighting it up while taking a stroll on an overhead bridge, you better stop right now.

Starting from 15 April (which was two days ago), overhead bridges as well as covered walkways in KL city have been designated as no-smoking zones.

Oh, that also includes underground pedestrian tunnels in the city.

According to a report by The New Straits Times, the new regulations - stated in the Declaration of Non-Smoking Area 2017, under the Control of Tobacco Product Regulations 2004 (Food Act 1983) - was first gazetted on 13 April.

It was then published on the Attorney-General’s Chambers website one day later.

The latest decision to ban smoking in covered walkways came after the Health Ministry designated all public parks in Malaysia - be it state parks or national parks - as smoke-free zones back in February.

With the prices of cigarettes facing a hike and more areas in the city being declared no smoking zones, maybe it's time to do your lungs a favour and quit smoking once and for all.
